Whyte Friston V4 Gravel Bike

Whyte Friston V4 Gravel Bike

The Bilsland Verdict: "While efficient on the road, being equipped with dropper post, hydraulic disc brakes, grippy Maxxis tyres and 1x groupset the Friston is supremely proficient off-road. A truly excellent gravel package."

Maximum Versatility

Whyte's GX bikes are versatility defined. On-road, off-road or both in the same ride, their uniquely capable and efficiently fast Adventure bikes set a new standard for all-day, all-rounders.

The frame is absolutely riddled with lugs for all the hydration and bike packing storage you could need, with space on the fork, top tube, seat tube and upper and lower side of the downtube. The frame and fork also offer the versatility and tyre clearance to happily run a 45c tyre, and without mudguards potentially the option to go wider. The bike can also take the smaller to 650b wheel to accommodate the even larger sizes.

Tubeless As Standard

Pre taped WTB rims combined with Maxxis Rambler tyres allow for an easy tubeless set-up. Just fit the supplied valves, add sealant and get the tyres seated! The Ramblers provide excellent all-round grip from tarmac to sloppy fire roads, and when set up tubeless provides that extra bit of performance and puncture protection.

Off-Road Gearing

Fitted with the popular SRAM Apex 1x groupset the Friston is armed with an excellent go-to gravel gearing set up, offering a great range of gears with reliable shifting. No front derailleur keeps things simple and prevents gears getting clogged up in the really muddy rides and CX races. And the SRAM Apex hydraulic disc brakes provide ample stopping power.

Comfort and Stability

The super wide handlebar equipped on the GX series delivers maximum stability and bag loads of space for all the lights, tech and storage you need for your trip. With a nice long wheelbase and cockpit reach, the GX series smoothes out even the roughest of pothole-littered fire roads.

A bike that we have loved so much in the shop that we decided to incorporate it as one of our hire options, and has gone down an absolute storm.
